THE THIRD DIMENSION
LETTERS SECTION
If you want to exchange words with any other kit member on any
computer format then here is the place to do it.If you would like
a personal reply then please send a self addressed stamped
envelope.
--------------------------------
YOU yes YOU! If you have an Atari or Falcon then you really
should try out the 3D adventure game "Secret Weapon".This is an
excellent game with a great storyline and many puzzles to
solve.Available now from Robin Ball. His address is to be found
in the helpline.TXT file.
---------------
Dear Tony,
It's been a bit hectic over here and there's not been much
time to do anything with the kits except try to recover from the
'bug' situation and get back on an even keel.
The December Third Dimension was great (as usual) and I'd like
to say a big thankyou to Meike for her tip. I'll be searching out
the article she mentions and giving it a whirl. It's good to know
the group are a friendly, helpful bunch. Any more ideas will be
gratefully received.
To answer the specific points Meike raised, the reason I
restricted movement controls to forward/backward, or turn-
left/right was purely because this was a demo I sent to a helpful
archaeologist, hoping he would give me advice or point me in the
direction of other sources of information (he did, and helped a
lot). As he isn't used to the kits, I made movement as easy as
possible. There's no 'FLY' option either for the same reason, and
in my attempts to recreate things to scale I got carried away
with the 'authenticity' angle and decided because no-one in real
life can fly, then neither could the viewer. I agree though, it
would probably make the thing a bit more interesting and I'll
improve the movement controls when I've sorted more data for you
to explore!
At present I'm trying to reorganise the world/areas and 'chop'
them up so that I can increase the overall data size using
'LOADWORLD' etc. This needs a logical approach and is proving
tricky! I have to link up some eighty-odd areas to complete the
main part of the city! Part of the task involves moving whole
buildings by grouping them and moving that. Not as easy as it
seams because the group can jump into oblivion at the slightest
careless touch and is lost for good! Needless to say I do a lot
of careful saving before I proceed very far.
Back to things generally 3D. I see there are some more
Superscape worlds on a 'PC Direct' cover CD. These can be viewed
using the Visualiser given away with them (formerly a £650 touch
and recently dropped to £99, I believe) There's a swimming pool
cum stadium, and you can jump in and swim about checking out the
scuba gear. There's the famous moving face which you can light
up using torches, and an empty shop to explore. All very
interesting if a tad slow on my old machine. I also hear that
version 4 of Superscape VRT is now out and seems even more
astounding than it was before. It's no good, I'll just have to
try harder at the lottery!
All the best.
Nigel.
If you do win the Lottery Nigel,I will be your best friend!
Seriously though ,I do know the problems of trying to move groups
of objects around and them suddenly vanashing. This has happened
to me on numerous occasions and it can be a real pain in the arm.
Tony....

The Ourtown idea and associated text file was a great find on
your diskmag.I hope that it continues and thanks to the people
who provided my son and I with many hours of pleasure.
With Thanks.Ted D'arby.

Dear Mieke
I thought that I would write a letter to you on the disk so
that everyone will know about your Amiga going bang too. This is a
great loss to the diskmag as you did some great things with it
using the 3D kits.I hope that it won't be too long before you get
another one. This must be catching as Antony Quinn has also had an
Amiga fail on him and he too is left with only his PC.Some of
Antony's Amiga games ( Probe,Op Thunderbolt etc) are some of the
best 3D kit games that I have seen so far,so this is another
great loss too.Hopefully this will not happen to anyone else on
any format......Tony.

To: Mieke
Dear Mieke,
I am glad you are enjoying ZONE RUNNER, and have
also attempted to take on the KAKRIVS. I am surprised that the
SPIELRAUM has you outfoxed, but here are a few clues to help you
on your way. If you need more help, just ask!
I must assume that you have located the CONTROL ROOM of the
Spielraum, as there are three primary routes to take, all of which
lead almost directly to this room, which is readily accesible.
This is the room with the large table that has a multitude of
control switches on top of it.
You should not need to press any BLUE switches (providing you
have discovered how to access them anyway), but if you press all
the RED buttons - EXCEPT ONE - you should open up almost all the
rooms. Keep an eye out for a message which will clue you in as to
which button should NOT be pressed. (This closes a door which you
want open.)
If this method fails, you should work your way back towards
the arrival teleport room and activate the PANIC BUTTON (unless
you have already done so!) and follow the new route that is opened
up. This route has it's own hazards, but is the 'emergency' route
which opens up the main doors you require especially for players
in your situation!
By the time you have found a room with the word 'OUT' on a
wall panel, you should only need to find the key to open the maze
exit, which will lead to... well, wait and see!
Good luck!
Peter D. Ward.
